Every time I go to Santa Barbara, I have to make a stop at the end of the pier and stop by Santa Barbara Shellfish Company. It is a small restaurant at the end of the pier that serves fresh sea food. Definitely a casual spot, you know the type of place where you feel right at home wearing sandals and drinking a ton of beers while cracking open shellfish, that type of place. My favorite dish is the half lobster (seasonal special) because it is just the right amount of food, but if you are really hungry then you should try their special (when available) the whole Rock Crab.
The Rock Crab is a whole crab which is 2-3 lbs of meat, it will fill you up for sure. Personally my favorite crab is either Dungeness Crab (most flavor), King Crab (most meat) or Soft Shell Crab (least work). The Rock Crab is more of a subtle flavor so if you are looking for a lot of taste then go with the Dungeness… if you just like dipping crab in butter then the Rock Crab is perfect! There are a lot of other dishes that are great, so just check out their menu.
