My wife loves oysters and scallops, so naturally I had to find a good seafood restaurant to satisfy her cravings. Fly’N’Fish Oyster Bar and Grill is one of my favorite seafood restaurants in orange county, it is located on the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, CA. For this quick Fly’N’Fish review, I figured I would let the pictures do the talking so will just tell you what we tried and make some recommendations.
Monday – Friday between 3 – 6 pm, Fly’N’Fish Oyster Bar and Grill has happy hour so make sure you take advantage of this if you can, they have half a dozen fresh shucked oysters for $8 (shown above). They were very fresh and tasty.
My wife’s favorite dish was their bacon wrapped scallops. They were nice and crispy on the outside but still soft and tender in the middle. You can’t go wrong with bacon wrapped scallops.
I highly recommend ordering their mussles and fries, the mussels are super flavorful and the fried are good too. This is a great appetizer or a main dish if you are eating family style.
My favorite dish was the saffron bacon risotto with seared scallops and shrimp. Don’t get me wrong, all of the other dishes were good too but I am partial to risotto and shrimp
Here is a picture of the Fly’N’Fish Oyster Bar and Grill happy hour special board. Obviously the specials probably change regularly, but this will give you idea of their dishes and pricing.
