Cafe Rio (Tustin, CA)

My coworker Marino who was originally from Utah introduced me to Cafe Rio a while back and now we eat there religiously.   Marino eats there so much he even has a custom nacho dish that everyone at Cafe Rio knows how to make just for him.  I forgot to take a picture of the nachos but I will try to add it to this post in the future… just know it is literally heart attack on a plate… hahaha, but I will admit it looks good.  My favorite dish is the Sweet Pork Barbacoa Burrito.  It is sweet pulled pork with Spanish rice (you can add beans but I don’t), cheese, and hot sauce.  I like mine enchilada style (aka wet burrito).  It comes with a mini side salad which I highly recommend you add some of their tomatillo house dressing to it.

This burrito is sooooooo good, it is way too much food for one serving but somehow I always finish it because it tastes so good. If you want to still get the great taste but can’t bring yourself to eat such a heavy meal than I recommend you try their Sweet Pork Barbacoa Salad and make sure to get their tomatillo house dressing.  On top of their already delicious meals they also have a killer key lime pie which they serve with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

I seriously could go on and on about how good Cafe Rio is but I think it is best to just state that I haven’t meet anyone that doesn’t like this place, unless they hate eating TexMex style food all together.  So do yourself a favor and try Cafe Rio and make sure to get the Sweet Pork Barbacoa!
