Sidecar Doughnuts Review (Costa Mesa, CA)

In honor of National Doughnut Day 2015, I decided to do a short Sidecar Doughnuts Review post.  I’ve eaten my fair share of doughnuts and Sidecar Doughnuts has to be among the best that I have ever had.  What really separates Sidecar from the competition is the fact that they use top quality ingredients and they put together deviously delicious flavors.  Please be warned, these doughnuts will do damage to your health as well as your wallet, but your taste buds will thank you for enduring the pain.

Yes, what you are seeing is maple bacon on a doughnut.  I’ve had other doughnuts before that have had maple and bacon, but Sidecar takes the #1 spot for best maple bacon doughnut in my books.  Their cinnamon doughnut is also good, but I wouldn’t say it is one of their best.

Sidecar doughnuts make both cake style doughnuts as well as yeast doughnuts.  Normally I only like yeast style doughnuts because most cake doughnuts tend to be dry.  Sidecar doughnuts does a really good job of keeping their cake doughnuts super moist and their glazes pack a wild punch of flavor.

These two doughnuts are seriously just WRONG in the sense that all logic tells you NOT to eat it, but damn they taste so good!  The left is the Apricot & Soured Cream and the right one is the Blueberry Cheesecake.  I highly recommend you share these doughnuts because they are super rich.
